Our annual Mardi Gras Ball is the clubs main fund raiser. There is a tremendos amount of work that goes into the selection of venue, menu and band. In addition, generous merchants and individuals donate items to our silent auction. Mardi Gras Ball is a wonderful fun night that helps us serve the community.
Every August our club has the honor of preparing the opening night bar b que for hundreds of kids with cancer and their medical staff of volunteers. We have supported Camp Fantastic for years. This special day is one of the highlights of our COMMUNITY SERVICE LANE. All those who participate enjoy the camp and the interaction with the young children, volunteers, doctors and nurses. Olney Rotary Club supports the Interact student organization at Sherwood High School.
During the end of year holidays, our club makes it's annual visit to the Montgomery General Hospital to deliver poinsetteas to patients that will be spending the holidays at the hospital. It gives Rotarians a chance to meet community people directly and share the holiday spirit of giving, which Rotary represents at the highest level.
The Olney Club has supported the efforts of the Jamaica Organization for Youth (J.O.Y.) for the past three years. This is one of the projects run through our International Lane of service. JOY arranges for donations of used computers, refurbishes them and sends them to Jamaica where they are placed into needy schools and community centers. The club has a formal dinner and collects toys to be given to children as holiday presents. All spouses and significant others attend. It's a great way to get together and give thanks for good friends and fellowship
